En esa zona existen dos liderazgos muy sólidos– uno dentro del propio PLD, Ramón Cabrera, dos veces diputado y actual presidente de la Comisión de Planificación y Economía de esa cámara-, y otra fuera del peledeísmo, pero aliado coyuntural, Tonty Rutinel Domínguez, el perredeísta que le disputó la alcaldía a Juancito en 2010.
Cualquiera de los dos sería candidato formidable para encabezar la alianza municipal oficialista en Santo Domingo Este tomando en cuenta que esa demarcación ha tenido siempre predominio del PRD y del PLD, juntos ahora por primera vez después de casi medio siglo de confrontaciones sin tregua.

Tonty le ofreció su apoyo a Juancito y Juancito le tomó la palabra y comunicó que Tonty sería su jefe de campaña en la contienda de mayo. Dos días antes de la tragedia, se reunieron en una casa campestre de la autopista Duarte para iniciar esa coordinación.
Tonty fue, además, uno los principales propiciadores de la alianza del PRD con el PLD, y marcha a la vanguardia de la reelección del presidente Danilo Medina como uno de los dirigentes más populares del perredeísmo histórico.
Se entiende que su postulación sería la reivindicación perredeísta de esa alianza, más aún después de la “fuga” del PRSC.

Cabrera es un meritorio dirigente peledeísta de Santo Domingo Oriental desde aquellos años de Juan Bosch. Es economista y financista egresado de la UASD con niveles académicos de post grado en altas finanzas y administración de presupuestos.
